Health Department Releases Latest COVID-19 Update

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department reports 52 news cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Overall there have been 16 variant cases of COVID-19 confirmed. Ten of the cases are the U.K. variant and the other six are the California variant.

Variants can spread more easily and quickly and they can lead to more cases of COVID-19. Residents are urged to continue preventive measures to control the spread of COVID-19.

The number of deaths remains at 229. There have been 26,932 recoveries. The weekly positivity rate through April 9 was 4.6 percent. The number of hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients stands at 30. The health department says the number of people who have received first doses of the vaccine is 129,706 and the number of people who are fully vaccinated is just over 75,000.
