LPD To Hold Gun Amnesty Day Saturday

By News Apr 2, 2021 | 2:49 PM

For the first time in three years Lincoln Police will be holding a gun amnesty day on Saturday.  It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at LPD’s Center Team Station at 27th and Holdrege. “We would ask citizens to drop off any unwanted or any illegal weapons and ammunition with no questions asked,” says Captain Don Scheinost.  “This is a great way to get rid of those items if they’re looking to clean things out or make their residence safer without a firearm if that’s what they chose.”

He says all people need to do is drive up, drop them off and drive away.  Scheinost says all guns should be unloaded and placed in the trunk or the backseat and officers will take them out. If you are not comfortable unloading your firearm tell the person who contacts you at the event.

Hope LNK will be handing out trigger locks and handgun lock boxes while supplies last.
