Webster: “I'm Back.”

By News Mar 17, 2021 | 5:07 AM

At least one player will be taking advantage of the extra season to play another round in Lincoln.

Kobe Webster announced on social media Tuesday that he is coming back for the extra year, as granted by the NCAA. His video features highlights from the season and a montage of press conference sound from himself, coach Fred Hoiberg, and teammate Trey McGowens. It closes with Webster showing up at McGowens’ apartment to let him know the news, ending with a typed out “I’m Back.”

Webster played in all 27 games this season, starting the final five. The transfer from Western Illinois averaged 8.1 points a game this past season. More than that, he showed the ability to spark the Huskers at times when other scoring options weren’t hitting and was another player who could handle the ball. He twice eclipsed the 20 point mark, scoring 20 against Georgia Tech in December and 23 against Northwestern in the regular-season finale.

He is the first Husker to announce his return for the extra season. No word yet on the plans for Thorir Thorbjarnarson.
