A few more details were made available at a Thursday morning news conference in the homicide investigation of 33-year old James Shekie.
Lincoln Police Acting Chief Brian Jackson said an area resident heard a loud noise about 2 am Friday, February 26th but did not contact Lincoln Police. On Monday, March 1st, Lincoln Police Officers responded to a neighbor’s call to check the security of the neighboring residence because the door had been open for a couple of days.
Jackson said the residence was in disarray and they found the body of Shekie. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
No specific motive was given but Jackson said investigators believe the issue was contained within the residence and there is no on-going threat to the public.
