Two outlets tabbed Nebraska players with preseason honors Monday.
Justin’s World of Softball named senior outfielder Tristen Edwards a third-team preseason All-American. Edwards hit .434 in 23 games last spring before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Edwards has also been named the Big Ten preseason player of the year by D1Softball, which selected freshman pitcher/utility player Caitlynn Neal as the Big Ten preseason newcomer of the year.
Neal is one of eight freshmen on the Huskers’ 2021 roster. An Arizona native, Neal was ranked as the No. 30 recruit nationally by Extra Inning Softball, and she was a member of the 2019 United States Under-17 Women’s National Team.
