Nebraska National Guard Members In Route To Washington D.C. For Inauguration Duty

By News Jan 12, 2021 | 2:00 PM

A total of 15,000 National Guard members have now been activated and will deploy to Washington, D.C., to help provide security in the run up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

The Nebraska National Guard tells KLIN News that 30 members are in-route or will soon be leaving for the nation’s Capitol. They will provide communications, logistics and food service for the event. There are still 45-hundred guard members in the state to respond to any local needs. The guard says they are proud to provide support every four years during an inauguration and are hoping for a peaceful event.

The number of Guard members coming in from other states has been growing amid escalating fears of more violent protests in the wake of what happened at the U.S. Capitol last week.
