Upset Bid at No. 15 Michigan Falls Short

By News Jan 7, 2021 | 8:21 PM

A third upset in a row for Nebraska came up just short Thursday.

Dominated in the third quarter and trailing 60-49 with just over four minutes left in the game, the Huskers put on a furious comeback. Isabelle Bourne hit back to back buckets to spark a 9-0 run. A Sam Haiby layup with 15 seconds left brought the game within two, but the Wolverines made their free throws, meaning a late Kate Cain layup was not enough to put the Huskers over the hump as Michigan won 64-62.

Haiby scored a team high 27 points while also leading Nebraska with nine rebounds. Cain and Bella Cravens scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, while each grabbed six rebounds.

The Huskers stay in Michigan the next few days as they prepare to take on No. 23 Michigan State Sunday.
