The latest ruling from Nebraska’s highest court could lead to a Lancaster County poultry operation.
The Nebraska Supreme Court denied an appeal of a decision by the Lancaster County Board allowing the construction of a large Costco-affiliated poultry plant.
In the unanimous opinion, it agreed with a district judge that the county board had properly issued a permit.
Three residents argued the board didn’t factor in property devaluation and pollution.
The proposed production facility came in 2018 and included details of the location and size: Land in the 13-thousand thousand block of Wittstruck Road would have four large barns housing 190,000 chickens.
