LINCOLN, Ne – The Salvation Army of Lincoln has met their $625,000 goal for 2020. In a ceremony held on a frigid Christmas Eve morning, 2020 Tree of Lights Chair and President of Whitehead Oil Mark Whitehead lit the Star atop the Tree in front of HOME Real Estate on O Street. Whitehead reminded everyone that the red kettles will still be out until mid-January. He said he was delighted to be able to light the Star, a sign of their commitment to helping people in need. Major Mark Anderson with the Salvation Army thanked everyone who helped reach this year’s goal, which he called a “great Christmas surprise.” As of the ceremony, the Salvation Army had received $631,293.65, or 101.01% of their goal. In a year stricken by the pandemic, the Salvation Army has continued to bring help to those in need.
