LPD Officer Assault Twice In Two Hours

A Lincoln Police officer was assaulted twice in a two hour period on Thursday, October 15th.

At 8:09 a.m., officers responded to 25th and Ammon after receiving a report of an assault in progress.  A 60-year-old man, a 64-year-old man, and a 2-year-old boy were at the residence.  The victims reported they woke up to sounds of 30-year-old Jessica Hofmann breaking items in the home and ransacking rooms.

The 60-year-old man reported to police that Hofmann whipped him with an electrical cord and punched him in the head.  The 64-year-old man said Hofmann pushed him backward, knocking him down.  Hofmann’s 2-year-old daughter was inside the home at the time.   As officers placed Hofmann in custody and were escorting her to the police vehicle, she kicked one of the officers in the legs, causing pain and discomfort, and then spit in the officer’s face.

Officers cited and lodged Hofman for Assault on a Police Officer, 2 counts of Assault, Child Abuse, and Resisting Arrest.

At 10:14 a.m., officers were called to North 48th and Adams Street after receiving reports that a man was walking in traffic causing a major block.  As officers approached 24-year-old Gabriel Golightly, he had a knife in his hand and demanded that officers shoot him.  Officers were able to talk to Golightly for several minutes and they were able to calm him down.  Due to his behavior, officers took Golightly into custody and as they were walking to the cruiser, he became combative.  he kicked the cruiser and spit in the face of the same officer who had been assaulted two hours earlier.

Golightly was booked for assault on a police officer with bodily fluids.
