On Wednesday, August 12th at approximately 6:30 a.m., Lincoln Police officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision near 300 Speedway Circle. Upon arrival, officers observed a pick-up truck that had rolled at least once and had come to rest near Salt Creek.
Their investigation shows that 39 year old Justin Sanmiguel was driving a pickup east on West Van Dorn between Highway 77 and Park Boulevard when he lost control and the vehicle headed south, through a parking lot when it hit a wire fence. The pickup then went through a grass field, down the bank of Salt Creek and rolled at least once.
Officers determined Sanmiguel’s behavior was erratic, irrational and showed signs of substance abuse. There was no alcohol in his system but a drug recognition expert evaluated Sanmiguel and determined he was under the influence of a central nervous system drug and was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Officers cited Sanmiguel for DUI, Negligent Driving, and No Operator’s License.
