Lincoln Police Officer Credited For Help Saving A Woman's Life

By News Aug 12, 2020 | 10:17 AM
A woman is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a vehicle around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday near 48th and Holdrege.
When police arrived, they found the 42 year old woman laying in the street with no pulse surrounded by a number of people.  The officer started CPR until Lincoln Fire and Rescue arrived and assumed care for the woman and then transported her to a hospital.  She continues to recover with unknown injuries.
The early investigation shows that the woman was with another person and were crossing the street against the signal.  Vehicles on 48th Street had a green light.  The driver told officers she was northbound when she saw the woman and braked as quickly as possible but couldn’t stop in time.
There is no indication the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and no citations were issued.
Police are still trying to identify the person walking with the injured woman.   The investigation continues.
