By News Aug 5, 2020 | 9:51 AM

The top education official for Lincoln Public Schools responds to the teachers protesting the decision to reopen schools with students in the classroom.

“I respect that.  I understand that,” LPS Superintendent Dr. Steve Joel said. “We’ve been really trying to accommodate teachers that want to take a leave of absence and the many reasons for that are great reasons.”

Joel he understands their concerns over safety and contracting the virus. He says several teachers have taken a leave of absence.

“We respect it, appreciate it and honestly admire it,” Joel said. “I think we one of the things we’ve tried to do in this is create a choice.”

Joel spoke Wednesday morning on our sister station B107.3
