LPD: Officers Talk Down Juvenile Threatening To Jump Off Bridge

By News Jun 23, 2020 | 10:35 AM

Lincoln police talk down a teenager threatening to jump from an area bridge.

Officer Erin Spilker reports that around 2:30 a.m.Tuesday, police were sent to a railroad bridge near Havelock and Cornhusker after receiving reports of a juvenile sitting on the bridge’s railing.

“Officers recognized the male as a neighborhood resident and through conversation, officers were able to convince the male to walk down from the bridge where they talked with him some more,” said Spilker.

Officers then helped connect the teen with mental health resources.

“Everyone can have a bad day,” said Spiker. “Our ultimate goal is always connecting people with resources when we know it’s a mental health situation.”
