Enhanced Risk of Severe Storms Sunday Afternoon

The National Weather Service released its latest advisory on the possibility of storms developing today with the Lincoln area in the ‘enhanced chance’ of development.  The greatest risk for severe weather expected between 2 PM and 10 PM.

The primary threats with any storms will hail to the size of half dollars and straight line winds gusts to 70 mph. An isolated weak tornado can`t be ruled out this afternoon. In general rain amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are expected, though local totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible. Given this rain forecast, localized flash flooding is possible this evening.

Thunderstorms are possible Monday, then again Thursday through Saturday. Severe weather is unlikely Monday. It is to soon to determine a potential severe risk for Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
