Flood Advisory Through Early Saturday Morning for Lancaster County

The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a * Flood Advisory for… Central Lancaster County in southeastern Nebraska… * Until 1230 AM CDT* SATURDAY

At 727 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. *Some locations that will experience flooding include… Lincoln. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Over the past couple hours, these storms has a history of producing very heavy rainfall. Depending on the track of additional storms, a flash flood warning may be needed for Lincoln. This includes Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 395 and 407.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
