Nebraska Supreme Court Orders State To Release Death Penalty Documents

By News May 15, 2020 | 9:45 AM

The Nebraska Supreme Court has ruled that State must release certain information on execution drugs obtained for the execution of Carey Dean Moore.

The state argued that the records should be confidential. The State claims releasing the information could lead to the identification of members of the execution team of which the identities are protected in state law.

Saying that the State’s argument “contradict the text of Nebraska’s public records statutes and are adverse to this court’s public records precedent.”, the Court ordered the department to redact confidential portions of the documents, such as the names of execution team members, and release the rest.
