A man is arrested after attempting to steal from a local laundry store.

The Lincoln Police Department reports officers were called to City Laundry in the 1100 block of Cornhusker around 2:15 Friday morning after the owner, while investigating an internal alarm triggered around an hour before, discovered a person in an interior room.

When officers arrived, the owner told them the man had run from the premises.

A man matching the provided description was found hiding behind the Baymont Inn in the 1100 block of Fremont and 36-year-old Travis Cox was arrested for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

Video surveillance revealed that Cox had hidden inside the building until close, then began taking various items, most of which were recovered.

A cable box and change jar are still missing.
