By News Apr 7, 2020 | 3:11 PM

The third member of the 2020 Class of the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame was one of the best to ever bowl for the Huskers.

Amanda Burgoyne Vermilyea was a four-time All-America bowler, helping Nebraska to back-to-back national championships in 2004 and 2005 with top three finishes in 2006 and 2007. The first year of bowling as an NCAA sport was 2004.

Individually, Burgoyne was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2005 NCAA Bowling Championships, where her average of 251.75 still stands as the highest average in the history of the NCAA Bowling Championships. In 2007, she was named the National Collegiate Bowler of the Year. Burgoyne won six individual event titles and was a four-time member of Team USA.

Burgoyne joins former volleyball coach Terry Pettit and player Jordan Larson as the first three announced to the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame. The other three student-athlete selections will be announced in the coming weeks.
