By News Apr 1, 2020 | 11:27 AM

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced that one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in Lincoln was reported Wednesday, bringing the community’s total to nine.

The new case is a man in his 30s.   He traveled to Dallas March 11-16 and began showing symptoms March 21.  He was tested on March 26.  His close contacts are self quarantining.

“I believe our community understands the seriousness of this pandemic, however I don’t want the people to look at the number of cases and believe we are somehow going to avoid spread in our community,” Pat Lopez, interim health director for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Director said.

“We encourage you all to stay home as much as possible and help each other prevent the spread.”

Lopez said there are 210 cases in the state.
