Lancaster County Traffic Stop Leads To Major Drug Bust in North Carolina

A traffic stop by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s leads to a major drug bust in North Carolina.

LSO Captain Ben Houchin says it all started when deputies stopped 26-year-old Brandon Montoya of Charlotte, North Carolina while he was traveling westbound on I-80 a little before 10 AM Friday near mile marker 391.

Houchin says Montoya was stopped due to him following too closely and hugging the shoulder.

After a conversation, deputies grew suspicious of Montoya’s intentions.

“Probably cause arose (so) that search of the vehicle could be conducted. During the search, there were  numerous documents showing that Brandon was involved in narcotics.”

Documents found included a ledger with the names of people who owed Montoya money as well as a list of various marijuana strains.

Officers also located over $100,000 in suspected drug money.

From there, LSO then tipped off police in North Carolina to Montoya’s apprehension and local authorities obtained a search warrant for a storage unit Montoya owned in Charlotte.

A search uncovered over almost 1300 lbs of marijuana and THC edibles.

A subsequent search of Montoya’s home uncovered tens of thousands of empty and filled THC vape cartridges, tens of thousands of empty and loaded bottles of THC oil,  tens of thousands empty and loaded marijuana cigar tubes,  high-grade marijuana, 10lbs concentrated THC wax, various paraphernalia and over $193,000 in cash.

Through the investigation, over 1800 pounds of THC liquid and marijuana were seized.
