A 22 year old Lincoln woman is arrested for the April 27th single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of her 20-year old passenger. Lincoln Police’s investigation determined that Deja Webster was driving southbound on North 27th when she lost control and struck the outer barrier wall of the bridge, crossed over the median, and ultimately collided with a tree on the east side of the Street. Jasmyn Chalk was ejected from the car and later died at the hospital from her injuries.
Police say that alcohol containers and marijuana were located in and around the vehicle. Evidence and reconstruction analysis confirmed that Webster was traveling around 80 to 88 miles per hour right before the first collision on a wet roadway with a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour. A blood test confirmed Webster had a blood alcohol content of .110. Webster was arrested for motor vehicle homicide.
