A 70 year old Lincoln woman was bilked out of $11,000 in a financial scam. A caller told the woman she was owed money and to register on a web site to get it back.
Officer Angela Sands says that after the woman entered the $300 that she was allegedly owed on the website…the caller then claimed she entered to much and now owed them money.
The 70 year old victim was then instructed to return the owed money by buying gift cards from Best Buy and Target and telling him the numbers.
No arrests have been made. Officer Sands reminds retail store clerks to look out for suspicious transactions.
