Safety is very much on the minds of Lincoln Public School officials. Superintendent Steve Joel tells KLIN’s LNK Today that they work on threat assessment drills with faculty and students. But Joel says that at the end of the day they want to turn to someone trained with the police department who knows what to do with an active shooter.
Joel says that everytime something happens in Lincoln or elsewhere around the country they do a comprehensive evaluation of their practices and procedures.
Superintendent Joel says they have two retired police captains trained in threat assessment and threat control leading their security team along with outside assistance from experts on threat assessment.
