First Degree Murder Charge In A 2010 Murder

A first degree murder charge is filed Tuesday for the murder seven years ago of a Peru State College student. Tyler Thomas was 19 years old at the time of her disappearance from the college. An extensive search was conducted by civilian volunteers, law enforcement and trained dog handlers in the following days was not successfully in finding her. Thomas’s body was never recovered.

Charged in the murder is a former fellow Peru State student at the time…..36 year old Joshua Keedle.  Thomas disappeared in the early morning hours of December 3, 2010.  Authorities say Keadle, told them he and Thomas had sex that night, and later told investigators Thomas threatened to report he had raped her.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office declined to comment on whether Thomas’ remains or any new evidence had been found.  Keadle is currently serving up to 20 years in prison for the 2008 of a 15-year-old girl.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s office has been appointed as special prosecutor in the case and will be assisted by the Nemaha County Attorney’s Office.
