Authorities in north-central Nebraska say firefighters are close to fully containing the largest of the three wildfires in the Niobrara River Valley.
Ainsworth Fire Chief Brad Fiala tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KBRB in Ainsworth, crews will still need to work on putting out hot spots on the Fairfield Creek Fire that's burned nearly 100,000 acres once the fire is contained.
Authorities say a cold front and higher humidity in the area yesterday played a key role in helping battle those wildfires.
