The announcement last week by Marilyn Moore, Associate Superintendent of the Lincoln Public Schools was not exactly surprising, given the long term of service provided by this extraordinary person.
But nevertheless, it is sad to imagine the Lincoln Public Schools without Dr. Moore. She has been the heart and soul of the District for many years. She has been in charge of instruction, and has been immensely responsible for keeping LPS among the highest ranking public school districts in America.
The thousands of students whose lives have been impacted for the good by Marilyn Moore would all attest to her caring attitude and her insistence on excellence. She always seemed to care not only about her major job responsibility, but also about individual students, and loved to tell of their successes.
In addition to her professional career, Marilyn has been a community leader as well, serving her church as lay leader, and BryanLGH as Chairperson, and many other involvements as well.
All of us who are privileged to know Marilyn are happy to hear that she will continue to be involved in our community. Marilyn Moore leaves a lasting heritage as she completes her service to our public shools. We hope she will contribute her excellent talents to Lincoln in the future as she enjoys a well earned retirement.
