Board Predicts Economic Growth in NE
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The state board that forecasts Nebraska tax revenue predicts slow but steady economic growth will boost state
revenues.
The Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board estimated Thursday that the state's general fund will gain about $50 million during the current two-year budget which ends in 2013.
Board members projected higher overall revenues based on reports from financial analysts, their observations of the economy and
other factors. Several members said the state's farm economy, low unemployment and net population gains showed Nebraska in better
shape than most of the country.
The $50 million estimate assumes that the board's tax revenue estimates are correct, and the number could change if lawmakers and
the governor enact new legislation.
