Further Frustration (1-24-12)

The recent announcement by the Obama administration that there had not been enough time to properly assess the merits of the Canadian pipeline across our country just adds to the frustration surrounding this issue.

The application is three years old, for heaven’s sake!  How long does an assessment take?

Of course, we all are pretty sure that this latest development is purely political.  But what do we expect out of Washington these days?
Everything is political partisanship, with party politics coming way ahead of statesmanship, especially in this election year.

An impartial observer, watching the Congress, and the campaign debates, surely would wonder if we aren’t living in a dysfunctional country.  Our government can’t govern, and the voters, who are supposedly in charge in our democratic nation, suffer.  Our candidates are debating not about the issues, but about the character of the opponents.

We wonder just how bad things have to get, before we restore our country into the dreams of our founding fathers.

I’m Roger Larson, and that’s the way I see it.
