Home sales in Lincoln continue to remain strong and it’s seeing steady growth.
New listings are up 8.3 percent and close sales are up 6 percent.
“Lincoln is a great market for anyone looking to purchase a home, ” Executive Vice President of the Lincoln Realtors Association Kyle Fischer says. “Home prices continue to appreciate since the housing crisis a few years pack.
Lincolnites are paying $189,900 on average for a new home – up 5.5 percent.
Fischer added strong job growth across the state helps the housing market improve.
While some people may think it’s harder to sell your home in the winter time, Fischer argues it’s not.
“It’s definitely not more difficult to sell a home in any particular month of the year than it is in any other month of the year.”
He says they don’t see as many listings or closings during December and January.
“The simple fact is not a lot of people put their homes up for sale in December or January,” Fischer says. “The sales numbers are lower because their are few homes on the market.”
If you’re looking to sell your home, Fischer says you need to list with a real estate agent.
“They’re a professional. They can help walk you through what’s probably the biggest monetary investment of your life,” he says.
“You’ll want to get professional help on how to stage your home, how to make the necessary upgrades you may want to do and certainly want to contact a professional to inspect it,” Fischer says.
