Sheriff’s Office Investigating Highway 34 Crash That Left One Dead

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality crash at Highway 34 and NW 48th St.

Deputies were dispatched to the intersection around 3 PM Monday where it was determined a northbound BMW, driven by 87-year-old Richard Gardner, stopped in the intersection during a red light and was hit by a Harvester.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, resuscitation efforts were attempted on Gardner, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still trying to determine why Gardner’s car went into the intersection.
