Man Fires Rifle In Lincoln Neighborhood Due To Feud

A man is cited and jailed by police after firing his rifle in a south Lincoln neighborhood.

Lincoln Police Captain Ryan Dale says officers were sent to the intersection of 22nd and Washington yesterday evening on multiple reports of gunshots and a car seen fleeing the area at high speeds.

After an investigation that included video evidence, 26-year-old Cody Williams was determined to be a suspect, and police contacted him at his home in the 1200 block of South 44th St.

“A .223 rifle was located in the vehicle and five spent .223 casings were located in his pocket,” says Dale.

Dale says officers were unable to find any damage from the shootings and no injuries were reported.

Investigators believe Williams was shooting in the area due to an ongoing feud with another individual.

Williams was cited and lodged for felony counts of discharging a firearm near a vehicle or building and using a weapon to commit a felony.

He was also cited for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
