Former Nebraska basketball player James Palmer Jr. made his debut in the NBA Summer League Sunday night with the Phoenix Suns, scoring a team high 23 points in their 105-100 overtime against the New York Knicks.
Palmer shot 8-18 from the floor for a field goal percentage of 44 percent. Palmer also added four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Palmer was scheduled to make his debut on Friday against the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas, but an earthquake prevented the game from being played.
Also, another former Husker, Isaiah Roby, made his Summer League debut over the weekend as well for the Dallas Mavericks. In two games with Dallas, Roby has scored 24 points, pulled in 11 rebounds, recorded four assists and two blocked shots in 55 total minutes of action in their wins over the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets.
Roby will be back in action at 2:30 p.m. against the Sacramento Kings Monday afternoon.
