Nebraska Basketball Team Officially Adds a New Director of Operations, Luca Virgilio

The Nebraska basketball team has officially added a new director of operations, Luca Virgilio. He departed the St. John’s men’s basketball program last week to join Fred Hoiberg’s staff at NU. Virgilio is the replacement for Gregory Eaton, who had served as the director of operations under former NU basketball coach Tim Miles.

Virgilio had spent five seasons with the Red Storm. He most recently served as St. John’s management analyst, but also previously served as assistant to former Red Storm head coach Chris Mullin and was a grad assistant before that as well.

Virgilio wrote in a Tweet on Friday expressing his gratitude for his time at St. John’s. “These past 5 seasons were an incredible experience. It’s time for me to start a new chapter” Virgilio wrote. “St. John’s will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you to all the coaches, players, and managers who I had the pleasure to work with.”

Virgilio is originally from Italy. The Huskers will take an overseas trip there this summer to prepare for the upcoming season.
