Lincoln Man Arrested For Stealing From Vehicles; LPD Grateful for Citizen Reports That Lead To Arrest

A 23 year-old Lincoln man has been arrested for stealing from vehicles.

Officer Luke Bonkiewicz says officers reported to the 3800 block of J Street around 3:30 Monday afternoon on reports of a person jiggling car door handles, taking items and in one case even taking a bike.

“On arrival, officers located the suspect who dropped the bike and began running as soon as he saw the officers,” says Bonkiewicz.

23 year-old Brendan Pietenpol was arrested after a short chase.

Officer Bonkeiwitz says the Lincoln Police Department is grateful to the concerned citizens who reported Pietenpol acting suspiciously.

Bonkiewicz says Pietenpol’s case is the second in the past 48 hours where someone was arrested for stealing from cars thanks to reports from concerned citizens.

“I think this is important because it really exemplifies the critical partnership between vigilant and really observant Lincoln residents and dedicated LPD officers,” says Bonkiewicz
