Expanded Nebraska gambling opponents say they are once again ready to fight off the latest petition attempt to allow casino gambling in Nebraska.
Gambling with the Good life spokeswoman Pat Loontjer calls supporters’ claims that casinos would bring in more money to Nebraska…”just smoke and mirrors”.
Loontjer tells KLIN News that national statistics show that for every one dollar any state gains in gambling revenue…it costs the state three dollars in social costs. She points to increased crime…increased addiction needs and additional domestic violence associated with expanded gambling.
A constitutional amendment allowing gambling at state horse racing tracks is being proposed by Ho-Chuck, Inc., the economic development arm of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
