The Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, The Health Department and the city’s Transportation and Utilities department have united to form a central command during the city’s water usage restrictions.
LFR Spokeswoman Nancy Crist says the departments will meet daily as long as the emergency lasts.
“Everybody comes together at 8 O’clock in the morning and has a planning meeting and talks about things that have changed,” says Crist. “(For example) What the water now looks like (and/or) whether the operations are going to stay where they are or if they’re going to evolve and change.”
The departments will meet every morning at the Emergency Operating Center at 8th and Pioneers to discuss strategy and create a daily action plan.
Crist says the unified command allows all involved departments to streamline their messaging during the emergency and make sure everyone is on the same page.
