A man killed this morning in a car accident near 70th and Vine has been identified.
Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands says 28-year-old Jacob Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue crews after the accident was reported around 8PM Monday
Sands says a witnesses traveling directly behind Stewart when he crashed told police he was travelling northbound on 70th street when he he suddenly accelerated and veered into the southbound lane, striking another vehicle nearly head on. She adds Stewart wasn’t wearing a seat-belt.
The 27-year-old driver of the struck vehicle and her 34-year-old passenger were treated at a hospital for non-life threatening wounds.
Sands says any alcohol involvement in unknown pending an autopsy.
Lincoln Police are investigating a crash near 70th and Vine Street last night that killed one and sent two others to the hospital.
Captain Jake Dilsaver says rescue crews were called when a vehicle going northbound on 70th St. entered the southbound lane at Eldora St and struck a southbound vehicle around 8PM Monday.
The driver and sole occupant of the northbound vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dilsaver says his identity is being withheld while family is notified.
The two occupants of the southbound vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Dilsaver adds an autopsy has been ordered and any alcohol involvement in unknown at this point.
