Suspicious Package Found Near Pound Middle School

Shortly before 10 am this morning Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to the 4600 block of Gertie on a suspicious article.  A man was walking his dog and saw what he believed to be a suspicious article.  With a school being in close proximity, the man transported the object to his house and called 911.

The article was isolated to the front porch of his residence.  Chief Inspector Bill Moody responded along with the bomb technicians.  The bomb robot was used by Inspector Robbins to remotely inspect the article.  The device was placed in a “frag bag” and taken to the inspection range to be x-rayed and destroyed.

Following the removal of the suspicious article, LFR did a wide canvassing of the area around Pound Middle School in search of other suspicious articles.  No one was injured and no other devices found.
