The investigation continues into the explosion on 56 hundred block of south 78th Street August 14th, 2017 that lead to the deaths of Jeanne and Jimmy Jasa. It was earlier determined that the explosion originated within the Jasa’s home.
Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister says police officers along with officials from the Bureau of Fire Prevention, Building and Safety and the Lancaster County Attorney’s office continue in efforts to answer a number of difficult but important questions in the explosion. The manner of death for the Jasas was listed on the death certificates as undetermined…but that could change with folloup investigation.
Two homes had to be razed in the area following the explosion including the site of the explosion. Overall 34 homes were damaged as a result of the explosion.
Chief Bliemeister says the public will be notified when a conclusion is reached on the explosion.
