Lincoln Police are releasing new details about a fight at Lincoln Highschool last Friday where an officer was assualted. Officer Angela Sands says an officer on duty at Lincoln High was attempting to stop two girls, 14 and 15, from fighting outside the cafeteria a little after 1PM when a crowd of students formed around the scuffle. Officer Sands says at that point, things went down hill. Sands says as the officer attempted to arrest one of the students, things escalated as several students jumped into the fray in an attempt tp stop the arrest.
Officer Sands says the officer was grabbed by multiple students, punched at least three times and kicked in the back of the knee. Multiple staff members came to assist but soon crowd of students surrounded them as well. Eight additional officers were called for backup. Soon Officers, with the assistance of Lincoln High employees, were able to calm the escalating situation.
The 15-year-old girl was referred for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and failure to comply with a lawful order. The 14 year-year-old-girl was referred for failure to comply with a lawful order and resisting arrest. A 15-year-old male student was also arrested for failure to comply with a lawful order.
